Smiltene is a firewood holder made to be carried. The bottom and both side panels are bent from one piece of steel, with generous radius bends and softly rounded top corners, so the rack looks calm and solid from every side. A round steel bar runs across the top between the side panels: it holds the shape together and doubles as a carry handle, so you can bring a full load of logs from the woodshed to the stove in one go. The front and back stay open, which makes it easy to stack logs and take them out, and leaves the end grain on show. Smiltene stands directly on the floor without legs and fits next to a fireplace, wood stove or sauna heater, in a hallway or on a covered terrace.
The rack is made of 3 mm sheet steel, and the 25 mm handle bar is bolted to the side panels. Everything is powder-coated in a fine-textured matt finish that is slightly grainy to the touch and has no glossy shine. The handle and bolts are coated in the same colour as the rack, so it reads as one solid piece. Choose from Black (RAL 9005), White (RAL 9010), Dark grey (RAL 7016), Light grey (RAL 7035), Antique bronze or Gold (RAL 1036, a smooth matt pearl finish).
Smiltene is made by FERLIGS, a metal workshop in Riga, Latvia, that has been making metal products since 2017. Our firewood racks are named after places in Latvia: Edole, Ugale, Piltene and now Smiltene. Dimensions: 50 × 30 × 30 cm (W × H × D). It holds logs up to 30 cm long. Firewood not included.
